Stuart R. Halpern

Stuart R. Halpern, a Partner at the firm, brings extensive expertise and experience to his practice.

Specializing in residential and commercial real estate law, Stuart also regularly represents his clients in development and leasing, business transactions and administration, estate planning and probate, municipal law (including eminent domain), and civil litigation.

Throughout his career, Stuart has been dedicated to serving a diverse clientele in real estate transactions, including buyers, sellers, lenders, builders, and brokers. He has successfully facilitated numerous commercial and residential transactions and has acted as a title insurance agent for several prominent national title insurance companies. Stuart’s proficiency extends to navigating the intricate landscape of title insurance, while managing the evolving complexities involved in bringing deals to fruition. His commitment to excellence ensures that every transaction, regardless of size or complexity, proceeds smoothly and seamlessly from start to finish.

Stuart’s expertise in real estate spans a wide spectrum, encompassing residential home closings as well as a diverse array of commercial transactions, including multifamily, retail, office, industrial, mixed-use, hospitality, car washes, shopping centers, restaurants, and various other commercial uses. He regularly represents one of the nation’s largest multifamily developers and builders. Additionally, Stuart frequently assists developers across Georgia with solar energy projects, contributing significantly to the state’s renewable energy efforts. Furthermore, he serves as counsel to the City of Savannah for a range of real estate matters and municipal eminent domain cases.

Stuart is a member of various legal associations, including the Savannah Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia, the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia, the South Carolina Bar Association, and the North Carolina Bar Association.

Beyond his legal practice, Stuart serves on the Board of Governors of the Savannah Jewish Federation and is an active member of Congregation Mickve Israel. He also serves as a board member of the Home Builders Association of Greater Savannah. Furthermore, Stuart demonstrates a commitment to using his knowledge and experience to give back to the community by providing pro-bono legal assistance and serving as attorney for several 501(c)(3) nonprofits addressing affordable housing, including Housing Savannah, Inc., Community Housing Services Agency, Inc., and CHSA Development, Inc.

Stuart holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Florida Warrington College of Business, majoring in Finance. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Georgia School of Law, where he was honored as a Sigmund A. Cohn Scholarship Recipient for all three years. He is admitted to practice law in Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Additionally, Stuart has garnered recognition for his outstanding legal work, including being named to the Best Lawyers in America© for Real Estate (2022-2024) and Trust and Estates (2024), as well as being recognized as a Super Lawyers Georgia Rising Star for Real Estate (2022-2024).

Stuart lives in Savannah and is married to his wife, Brooke Halpern, who is an internal medicine physician. They are proud parents to their son, Bennett, and daughter, Harper.
